Riyad Mahrez's Exciting Move to Damac: Latest Transfer Update
Riyad Mahrez, the Algerian footballer who has been on loan at Leicester City since January 2017, is set to sign for Spanish club Valencia in a deal worth €45 million.
The transfer was confirmed by Valencia president Javier Tebas during a press conference on Monday, with Mahrez expected to arrive in Spain within the next few days.
Mahrez, who has made over 100 appearances for Leicester and scored 28 goals, has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium for several months now.
He had previously expressed his desire to leave the club and play for a bigger club, but he was unable to find a suitable suitor.
Now, however, he will be joining up with former teammate and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola at Valencia,Chinese Super League Home Ground where he will join fellow Algeria international Youssef En-Nesyri.
"Valencia is a great club and I'm very happy to have joined them," said Mahrez after the news was announced.
"I want to thank my agent for all his hard work in finding me this opportunity."
The move is seen as a significant coup for Valencia, who are currently battling relegation from La Liga.
The club has struggled for form this season, losing six of their last eight games, and were also knocked out of the Copa del Rey semi-finals by Real Madrid.
However, they have shown some signs of improvement in recent weeks, and it seems that Mahrez could help turn things around for them.
The addition of Mahrez to the squad should give Valencia fans hope of a brighter future, and they will be hoping that he can help them avoid being relegated to the second tier of Spanish football.
